In December 2022, a longtime community member asked us for help getting his seven dogs spayed and neutered. We covered every surgery at no cost to him. They were seven of the hundreds of surgeries we provide every year.
This September, after his unexpected passing, his family called us again. All seven dogs came into our care that same day. Puna, Kona, Lehua, Kuʻulei, Roxy, Hōkūlani, and Noenoe are now safe, healthy, and ready for adoption.

That call came in to Daylynn's home, like every call does. The intake, vet checks, and adoption listings for all seven were handled from inside her house.
That's what nearly 20 years of community rescue looks like. Alongside those surgeries, in 2025 we also delivered:
Every bit of that work runs through the same home. The phones start ringing early and keep going into the night. Staff triage medical cases, schedule vet appointments and transports, and meet adopters and community members at the door. On any given day, 35 to 50 dogs are on site and seven or eight staff are at work, three of them sharing this small guest room along with the rescue's medical supplies.

After nearly 20 years, the rescue fills every room of her house, every hour of the day.
The plan
We have a $25,000 quote to convert a 40-foot shipping container into a dedicated office, with power, doors, a roof, a walk-up window for adopters and community members, and a small covered deck. The container also holds food and supplies, so we can close the storage we rent today. If AIR moves to a new location in the future, the office moves with us.

Moving the team into a dedicated office gives staff room to work and gives the community a real front door. And after nearly 20 years of sharing her home with the rescue around the clock, it gives Daylynn some very well-deserved downtime.
When Puna, Kona, and the rest of the seven go home, we'd love for their adopters to sign the papers on that new front deck.
Help us reach $25,000
Every gift brings this office closer to opening its door. For a business, family, or individual who wants to make a lead gift, we'd be honored to name the office after you. And if you can't give right now, sharing this with one person who loves dogs helps too.
Mahalo for making more room to save more dogs.
